When we travel, we generally don’t just go away to stay in a hotel. Many of us may prefer to say in luxury hotels when given the chance, but it’s unlikely that the chance to stay in a great hotel is the reason we set out on vacation in the first place. As wonderful as our hotels might be, they’re generally just a place to sleep at night after we spend our days exploring whatever town, city, or resort it is we’ve chosen to go and see.
For the gamblers among us, that destination might be a casino. There’s probably a casino in your home town or city, but it’s not the same as visiting a proper casino and hotel resort. The best gambling destinations in the world offer far more than just a night at the tables. They also offer sophisticated accommodation, five-star dining experiences, and a range of other entertainment options for whenever you get tired of chancing your luck at the casino (if that ever happens at all!)
Increasingly, there’s no reason to go out and visit a regular casino if there isn’t a little more to it than just the games. If you just want to play casino games, you may as well visit an online slots website. The most popular and advanced online slots websites out there offer far more than just slots – they offer almost every new 2020 casino you’d find in a standard casino, so you may as well stay at home and play them if that’s all you’re after. If you want a little more than that, though, log out of your preferred online slots website for a little while and check out one of these world-leading casino resorts instead!
Park Hyatt Mendoza, Argentina
For reasons we don’t fully understand, most people don’t consider Argentina when they’re drawing up lists of potential vacation destinations. That’s a mistake. If you want a list of reasons to visit the South American country, we’ll come up with a different article for you on another occasion, but here’s a whole eighteen of them to keep you going in the meantime. To cut a long story short, Argentina has a lot going for it, and a world-class casino resort is just one of the fabulous entertainment options on offer.
The Park Hyatt Mendoza, which was originally built in the 19th century during Spanish colonial times, hosts the Regency Casino Mendoza. Popular with European travelers, it has a European feel throughout in terms of both its aesthetics and its ambiance, although the presence of the game punto y banca – a local take on the classic game of baccarat – is enough to remind you that you’re somewhere unique. The real attraction of this resort, though, is that it stands at the foot of the Andes and is surrounded by incredible wineries. Just try not to indulge in too much wine before visiting the tables!
Bellagio, Las Vegas, USA
When the Bellagio was built in 1998, it was probably the greatest casino in the world. The world has changed a lot since then, but this gambling palace still deserves its place on any ‘best casinos’ list. It cost Steve Wynn more than one and a half billion dollars to get it built, but he made a handsome return on his investment when he sold it to MGM Resorts International.
The huge fountains at the front of the property are an iconic sight, and they’re the image that the casino is known for all over the world. Behind those fountains lies more than three thousand hotel rooms boasting cutting edge technology for guests, any manner of services you could possibly imagine, and access to games that are played for eye-watering amounts of money. The pots on offer in the notorious ‘Bobby’s Room’ are often worth more than $1m.
Foxwoods Resort Casino, Connecticut, USA
As much as people like to that Las Vegas is the be-all and end-all when it comes to gambling in the United States of America, it isn’t. To suggest otherwise is to do a disservice to Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, which doesn’t have the world-beating reputation that its standards, services, and qualities deserve. We hope by including it in this list, we’re playing a small part in correcting that mistake.
Foxwoods is the single largest casino in North America. Technically the site is made up of six separate casinos, but it also offers almost forty restaurants catering to all tastes, several relaxing spas, and a bowling alley. You could have a great time here without placing a single bet. If your budget allows you to stay at the Grand Pequot Tower, you’ll get the benefit of a personal butler service for the duration of your stay. That’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience for most visitors!
Resorts World Sentosa, Singapore
Many historians believe that the hobby of gambling began in the Far East. We’re not qualified to say whether that’s true or not, but that part of the world still offers some phenomenal gaming and gambling locations, with Singapore’s Resorts World Sentosa featuring right at the top of the list as far as we’re concerned. It cost five billion dollars to put this sprawling entertainment expanse together, and based on the reviews and the facilities; it was money well spent.
You could almost argue that the world-class casino here isn’t even the main attraction. That honor probably goes to the Universal Studios Theme Park that exists on the site, or the world’s largest oceanarium inside the Marine Life Park. You can stay in a five-star beach villa if you like, but why not try something a little different by hiring out a private tree-top loft? It’s more comfortable and luxurious than it probably sounds!
The Venetian Macao Resort, China
Las Vegas is no longer the gambling capital of the world, and the Venetian in Las Vegas is no longer even the best casino to be called ‘The Venetian.’ We apologize to Las Vegas and America at large for making that statement, but it’s true. The greatest casino resort in the world is the Venetian’s sister casino in the autonomous region of Macau in China. The existence of this entire area is something of an anomaly – it’s illegal to gamble in China, but Macau gets away with it because it isn’t part of the mainland.
You’ll find this casino resort in the record books for several reasons. It’s the world’s largest casino. It’s Asia’s single largest hotel. It’s the seventh-largest building of any kind on the planet. You simply can’t get a sense of the scale of this place through pictures – you have to come and see it with your own eyes. It goes without saying that you need a large budget to come here – so if you do, do it properly and make sure you visit the Paiza Club with its VIP dining and entertainment options.
According to the old Kenny Rogers song, when it comes to gambling, you have to know when to hold ’em and know when to fold ’em. You also have to know where to go to do either of those things, though, and we hope that you now have that information!
