Stress is the leading cause of poor health and disease for the average American; and yet is the most ignored cause.
It’s not possible to live a stress-free lifestyle in this modern fast-paced life. Life constantly throws hardships at you, and sometimes it just takes its toll on you.
For most people, stress is usually money related. If that’s so, start saving for your secure future. Learn more at Crediful.com. For all the other kinds of stress, here are 10 healthy habits you should be adopting today for a happier, stress-free life:
Exercise
Go out every morning for a walk, It’s the best habit to develop as a part of your daily routine. Exercise increases blood flow. It also improves the oxygen supply in all parts of your body. This keeps your mind active and your body healthy. Your healthy body is the real key to low-stress levels.
Meditate
Meditation is an ancient practice and it not only helps in the improvement of physical health but also improves one’s mental health. It lowers blood pressure, fights depression and insomnia and so is one of the best practices to cultivate for de-stressing. Learning basic meditation methods may help you cut down your stress more efficiently.
Healthy Eating
Eat healthily! This is one of the practices that I have implemented on myself. It works wonders. Cut down your caffeine, sugar, and carbohydrates. I know it’s hard to cut down your daily caffeine intake but once you do it, it will change your life. Start taking milk with a pinch of turmeric every night. I promise you, you will never regret it for your entire life. Try your best to avoid processed food as they are the leading cause to hypertension.
Be Thankful
Gratefulness attracts positivity around you. Count your blessings every moment of your life. We tend to forget our blessings due to the worries and obstacles we have to go through. Focusing on the positive things in your life helps you relieve stress. What happens in life is not up to you but how you react to it matters a lot. Gratitude helps fight tension.
Planning and Organizing
Planning your day before starting it helps you manage the day well. It will also bring you a peace of mind. With good planning, it won’t be just another routine day where you head to work with total chaos in your mind. A planned day is when you jot down in a bullet journal or daily planner your “things to do” along with the time required for each task. Go about the list accordingly. Believe me, it is going to make your day more productive and of course stress-free.
Quality Sleep
It’s no secret that a stress-free life and a good night’s sleep are related. To live a tension free life, you must get 6-8 hrs of continuous sleep. You might not realize its meaning but you must have sung; “early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise”. Well, it just may be a poem at that time but do consider its significance now. If you are not getting enough sleep then you will never be able to function properly. Headaches and fatigue will be your common dilemma. Make this your habit as soon as possible and you will be thankful for the rest of your life.
Laugh
Laughter they say is the best medicine. It surely is! Laugh off your worries and smile. Connect with people who make you laugh or watch comedy sitcoms. Start with my absolute favorite, Friends. I have watched it a million time, but it’s still the best!
Laughter triggers the release of endorphins. This eases the pain in the body and mind and makes you happy for no reason. It helps reduce blood pressure and improves your heart’s health.
Socialize
Meet people and make friends. Go out with your family more often. Having people around you who listen to you helps you calm down. It gives you different perspectives of a situation in your life. Different people have different opinions. Listening to them may help you get out of your troublesome situation. Here again, I must say, be positive of what you hear and absorb.
Get a pet
Some people are not much in to building relationships or making friends. For them, I have a solution, “get a pet”. Those fluffy little creatures love to cuddle up beside you. And you know what! Petting a cat helps reduce blood pressure. Well! Here you go.
Disconnect from technology
Whenever you are feeling a little overwhelmed, get yourself away from technology around you. It is not easy and even possible to be totally free from it though. Before going to bed, try not to use any gadget as it disturbs the peace of your mind and makes it harder to fall asleep. Make a point of turning off the Wi-Fi for 1-2 hours every day. Relax with a book or enjoy a soothing cup of tea. Or just sit down with family to talk.
