When starting a business, more so than other ventures in life, you need to listen to experts. This is why we sat down with Ryan Dean Hoggan to pick his brain and get the best advice for starting a business in 2022.
You are all about NFTs nowadays, so do you think new entrepreneurs should be looking at them as well, maybe for business ideas?
Absolutely! I mean of course. NFTs and Crypto are our future, and the earlier you jump in, the more rewards you’ll reap.
2022 will probably be the absolute prime time to dip your toes in as well. NFTs are only just recently busting into the mainstream.
So yes, I think there are plenty of businesses that can be created that deal with NFTs, everything from virtual art galleries, to a third-party tool for trading.
How does starting a business in 2022 differ from starting a business in the past?
Well, the main difference you’ll find is the technology available. Every year technology changes businesses, from how you start them to how you run them.
The pandemic has only served to increase these changes, so to speak. In 2022, remote work and outsourcing should be in the back of your mind, more so than any other year.
It’s easier and more economically viable than ever to start a fully online e-commerce store.
You mentioned e-commerce, do you think this should be a backup plan to a traditional brick and mortar shop? Or is a fully online business just as good?
Oh, it’s just as good to create an e-commerce store. Absolutely, it should be a real consideration, not just a backup plan.
There are pros and cons to both types of stores, so it’s up to you to really think about what your business needs, and what will work for you. I think most business ideas could function fully online, and there’s a lot less risk in doing so.
What are some technologies young business people could take advantage of?
There’s so many. AI of course, is one of my favorite technologies of the modern world, and I think it’s only going to get more powerful.
In 2022, I imagine you’ll be able to use AI to drive traffic to your website, increase its SEO, etcetera. Then you have tools like Shopify and WordPress that just make creating a store, or online presence so simple and easy.
I truly believe that these should be your first choice, having a fully custom website is nice, but it’s so much cheaper just to make and host your shop with one of these tools, at least in the beginning.
Just spitballing, what kind of businesses do you think are going to boom in 2022?
Well I’ve been talking a lot about the e-commerce shops online. Those aren’t going anywhere, and there’s only going to be more and more of them emerging.
I think there’s going to be so many of them, consumers will have so many options, that quality will start to matter a lot more. Quality products, quality companies.
People have become more in tune with the ethics of businesses as well, so I think businesses that treat people right and sell a quality product are going to really shine.
