While the pandemic has dramatically affected some businesses, it has given some momentum that will not be slowing down anytime soon. One of such is the digital marketing business.
During the pandemic, many people worldwide were stuck at home, and the only way to buy anything was through the internet and trusted delivery services. This led to an increase in online stores and, as a result, a large influx of people into the virtual marketplace.
These two situations, in turn, prompted an increase in the need for digital marketing, which is capable of helping business owners and entrepreneurs get an edge over the competition. However, while the internet marketing business is lucrative, getting started can be pretty cumbersome.
That’s why we interviewed Jurgen Cautreels, a seasoned marketer and NFT expert, and this was how it went.
Jurgen Cautreels: We have jobs today that weren’t around fifteen to twenty years ago. For instance, the FinTech industry is a relatively new sector we’re still trying to understand.
However, if there’s anything these new jobs have in common, it’s that they have one connection or the other to the internet. Big brands and small companies are trying not to miss out.
So, there has been a gradual migration from entirely physical transactions and marketing to an internet-based one in the last five years. Since 2020, this migration has drastically increased.
I’m trying to say that this migration is a fertile field for digital marketing. More businesses migrating to the internet means more jobs for digital marketers, which means more money. So, is it worth it? Definitely!
The market has been steadily growing in the past few years. While other forms of digital marketing have been accepted, digital advertising through search engines and social media has been more favored. The digital marketing trends in 2022 are promising since the Covid lifestyle has impacted this uptrend, and now, there are more avenues and possibilities for digital marketing than ever.
It’s estimated that by 2006, global digital marketing and advertising would have reached 786.2 billion dollars.
Like any profession, there are two main ways to start a career in digital marketing. The first is to learn about it on online platforms through a self-paced learning program or join an institute with professionals where you won’t only earn a certificate and a degree.
While self-learning has numerous advantages, going to an institute will make your knowledge more verifiable. It’s also important to learn from reputable sources, or you will be stuck with outdated marketing practices.
Starting a digital marketing business is just like starting any online business. The only difference is that you have the skills to market your services like crazy and get profit very fast.
The first step to starting a digital marketing business is understanding what digital marketing is. Learn about it! There are a lot of online courses to learn digital marketing. Once that’s done, everything else becomes easier.
Contrary to popular belief, digital marketing is not a get-rich-quick scheme. You have to put in a lot of work, and even after that, there’s no guarantee that you’ll ever be able to upscale as well as big named brands.
Also, internet marketing is not a one-person business. So, you need to develop some team working skills if you don’t already have one.
