Fred Brisker knows all about insurance and during his career in the insurance industry and he has come across a great many people who refused to get insurance, or sufficient insurance, only to later pay the hefty cost of things going wrong. I was chatting to Fred last week about this exact topic and in particular the many benefits which travel insurance offers people, very pertinent given what many of us have experienced with this pandemic. If you are at all on the fence about getting travel insurance then read on to find out the many benefits travel insurance offers and the instances in which travel insurance will come to your aid.
Illness Abroad
Something which many people are simply not aware of are the exorbitant costs of foreign healthcare, and even a slight health concern could quite easily see costs run into the thousands, and more severe issues running into the tens of thousands. Naturally we like to think that nothing will happen to us during the short duration of the holiday, but that is not always the case. In fact being on holiday means that you are much more likely to get involved with activities which carry additional risk, not to mention the new germs and bacterias which may cause you harm.
Lateness and Cancellations
If a flight is cancelled without warning then the airline will do all that they can to get you on another flight, but if that means that you are late for an event or you miss a connection, you are going to need some additional support. Equally if you face delays which mean that you can’t leave when you are supposed to, it may mean an overnight stay or worse. Insurance in this situation will make sure that you are reimbursed for both your time and for any money that you have lost.
Luggage
Lost luggage is something which happens to people every single day and if you are unlucky enough to have it happen to you then you are going to need some support in order to help out. Whilst the insurance company can’t get your luggage back for you, they will be able to offer you the chance to buy items for your vacation, and then they will give you that money back. If you haven’t got any insurance then you are going to be footing the bill for it all.
Emergency
In cases of an emergency such as a natural disaster or perhaps even a terror incident, you may have to wait some time before your government support you in pulling you out of a particular country. A call to your traveling insurance however will greatly speed up your exit and make sure that you are on the next flight out, bringing you back home or at the very least to a safe place.
There is no point running the risk of not having travel insurance, for what it costs, there is always a reason to have it on your side.
