6 Ways Of Getting Rid Of Ants At Home

Controlling pests can be a daunting task, and one has to carefully eliminate the root cause of any pest to fully put them under control. Some of these pests can be annoying and could be agents of causing diseases. Ants being social insects and at times may not cause much damage to your properties. However, particular species cause massive damage to wooden structures. There are several species of ants, but the most destructive species is the carpenter ant. These ants exist in different sizes and styles, the queen ants, which have wings, are about an inch and the smaller worker ants are half an inch in size. Generally, ants stay in the gardens, and a lower percentage could invade your homes.

Here are the most effective ways of getting rid of ants at home.

Identifying Ants Species 

To carry out a successful ant’s eradication at your home, you need to ask yourself; Which species of ants is this? What areas are infested by these ants? What type of pesticides will you use for their treatment? Considering these factors helps to identify the type of treatment to use. Different ants have different feeding or nesting habits, and you will need a specific treatment plan. Tracing the ant’s path is essential in that it allows you to find their nest and feeding grounds.

Upon identifying the worker ants, you then apply the pesticide on their feeds and use the control on their nest too. These will eradicate the ants as they feed on the poisoned food and eventually die.

Identify the Nests

There is no better way to eliminate ants than identifying the nest’s and controlling them from their nest. As much as you have restrained them from the house, they will come back and cause the same damage at one point. After controlling ants from accessing their food, you need to locate their nest and apply the pesticides. Block Entry Point

Upon trailing the ant’s path, right from their nest to their feeding grounds and sealing all the cracks or spaces that they can get access to the house. The next step is to get the right pesticide to eliminate them. Before applying the pesticides, carefully read and follow the instructions on how to use the spray. Spraying the ant’s nest and their paths cautiously will eliminate them and prevent any damage due to the use of the pesticide.

Discard food Sources

If you still keep the source of food for the ants, they will always come back to you and cause damages, forcing you to go back to square one. Ensure your environment is clean, and any foodstuff is kept safe by sealing or keeping the ants out of reach. Eliminate any honeydew from your house, as this will significantly reduce their presence and eventually die.

Patience

Completely eradicating ants may take a few days to weeks. Some nests may have several queens in a colony, and therefore this calls for patience. You may have to replace the baits when the ants empty them.
