Recovery is a journey that every ex-addict has followed and truth be told, being hooked on drugs is actually like an illness. However, many people are lucky enough to find help and they are back on their feet. However, the process does not end when they go to a rehab center or when they no longer use the drug, there is a process. Once you visit a rehab center they will congratulate you for the choice that you have made and also make it clear to you that the path you have taken is the right one but still it won’t be that easy. You will have to follow a couple or rules while recovering that will ensure quick and steady recovery. Among the rules are these;
1. Do away with your stash
The first and foremost thing that you have to once you are back from rehab is that you need to get rid of any stash that might have remained. The reason for doing this is to ensure that you cut your access from drugs.
2. Change your company
You need to really change your ‘crew’ You need to associate with some other people who will harness your journey to sobriety and who will make sure that you don’t lose track. Join yourself to people who seem to have your best interest at heart. Don’t go back to your crew who you used to do drugs with. Many people make the mistake of saying that they are going to try and help their friends out while they themselves are not stable.
3. Keep yourself busy
You need to engage yourself throughout the day and I don’t necessarily mean that you find work but it is a good thing to do. You can look for an organization or join a sport or do some good for society. You can join up a group that will keep you engaged and away from drugs.
4. Get an accountability partner
This is a very crucial thing in the healing process as it reduces the chances of a relapse. This is where you have someone follow up on you and see your progress. You need to have someone who keeps you in check. And if you visit a quality rehab such as ambrosia you will not need to worry about this since they have follow-up service on their clients to ensure a full recovery. This explains the high success rate that they have gotten over the years. Click here to learn more about this rehab.
5. Avoid secluded places
You need to stay in the clear and always try to be in the midst of some people. Now, a study has shown that most addiction and habits are broken in the presence of people. While in private you can do all that you want but in public, you will have a lot of reservations and when you do this continually you will notice that you are not having any trouble with drugs.
