4 Reasons to Vacation in Australia This Year

4 Reasons to Vacation to Australia This Year

Australia far away from the rest of the western world, but it holds innumerable natural and manmade beauties. Here are 4 reasons to vacation to Australia this year.

9 million people visited Australia in the year ending May 2018. That’s 9 million people who experienced the beauty and cultural significance of one of the most biologically diverse countries in the world. A vacation to Australia should be on everyone’s bucket list.

But what exactly makes Australia a must-see travel destination? Here are 4 major reasons to book your next holiday down under.

The Beaches

Mexico isn’t the only must-see beach destination. Australia is renowned for its beaches and for good reason. They’re some of the most spectacular in the world.

Whitehaven Beach is quite at home on a postcard, sporting palm trees, crystal blue waters, and some of the finest sand on the planet.

If you’re less about lounging in paradise and more one to surf through it, then you’re in luck here too. Bondi Beach in Sydney is an excellent place to catch a few waves. Byron Bay is another excellent surfing destination preferred by many for its small-town charm.

The hardcore surfers tend to gravitate towards Queensland. Noosa boasts the most varied waves with sections suitable for beginners to professionals.

And no talk of Australian beaches would be complete without mentioning the Gold Coast. Located just south of Brisbane, it’s beaches are world-renowned for their beauty and their surfing.

Gold Coast holiday rentals are also some of the most luxurious to be had.

The Culture

Aussies are renowned for being some of the friendliest folks on the planet. If you’d like your next holiday to feel like home then a vacation in Australia will definitely do the trick.

Australia is also home to what’s believed to be the oldest continuous culture on the planet. Aboriginal Australians are descendants of the first people to leave Africa. This happened up to 75,000 years ago!

You can still see the ancient artworks of these first peoples in the cave paintings of Kakadu National Park, the Kimberley region, and the Burrup Peninsula.

Uluru

Uluru — also called Ayers Rock — is one of the most recognizable landmarks in the world. Located in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, the sandstone formation rises 2,831 ft above sea level and has a total circumference of 5.8 mi.

This sacred site must be seen to be believed. It’s majesty and cultural significance make it one of the best reasons to travel to Australia.

The traditional landowners of Uluru and it’s neighboring landmark, Kata Tjuta, are Yankunytjatjara and Pitjantjatjara people. Though Uluru is currently open for climbing, the traditional landowners ask that people not climb the sacred site.

The Great Barrier Reef

No list of reasons to travel to Australia would be complete without mentioning the Great Barrier Reef.

The world’s largest coral reef, the Great Barrier Reef spans almost 1,500 mi up the coast of Queensland.

There is a multitude of ways to experience the majesty of this world heritage listed site. You can fly overhead to get a birds-eye view or take a scuba diving tour to get up close and personal with the Reef.

Whichever way you choose to go, be sure to contribute to the Reef conservation efforts. Repeated bleaching incidents have damaged the ecosystem almost beyond repair.

Book Your Next Vacation to Australia

Australia has something for everyone. Stunning beaches, friendly people, and some of the most beautiful natural wonders in the world. Booking your next vacation to Australia is guaranteed to be a trip you won’t soon forget.
